What is a Supply Chain Architect?
There are Supply Chain Managers and there are Supply Chain Architects.  Supply Chain Managers operate the
supply chain; they do the best with what they have.  They do not question their environment and why things
happen.  Supply Chain Managers do not improve their situation.  They say things like “If only we could have a better
forecast” or “I wish our supply base could deliver more reliably."  A Supply Chain Manager is a caretaker or landlord.
But a Supply Chain Architect takes a different perspective.  He or she is looking to build a better supply chain.  An
Architect likes to know how things work and seeks to understand both the design and function of their Supply
Chain.  An Architect wants to know the details and the interactions between different functional areas.  An Architect
wants to know the specifications and performance requirements that will make the Supply Chain successful.
Ultimately, a Supply Chain Architect wants to build a better process, system, and team – leading to higher
performance.  Hawkeye Planner is for Supply Chain Architects.

What Can Hawkeye Planner Do For You?

performance.  The total Supply Chain must make trade-offs, develop capabilities as determined by the business
needs, and have a scorecard that balances what can be contrary objective such as service, inventory, and
operations cost.
